2 weeks into my new job and to celebrate my first paycheck, we went to Nobu at the casino to have a nice dinner. The food was a bit pricey but very yummy! Between my new job, looking for a house to buy and weekend work, time is not on my side. So hopefully all of this wonderful bag bits that came in the mail (1 week late...no thanks to unreliable Australia Post) posted <span style="font-size: small;">and chased up with Australia Post</span> by the lovely Leah from <a href="http://www.nicolemdesign.com.au/">Nicole Mallalieu Design</a> will spur me on to squeeze in more time for crafting!<br />
<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhe4I7QqskWI8eYHnfAJ3MuPA8tP-fNlIvQFnRHKKUrO29PzxMm98GiLjMMqAfYqyls07ar9i_QKHpDxQN51vOg0MYXwq2eEPmlid6Pys6wFwHzJYUKojIr0GqFz_hfFE4FEre4OlSvsJo/s1600-h/P1050845.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhe4I7QqskWI8eYHnfAJ3MuPA8tP-fNlIvQFnRHKKUrO29PzxMm98GiLjMMqAfYqyls07ar9i_QKHpDxQN51vOg0MYXwq2eEPmlid6Pys6wFwHzJYUKojIr0GqFz_hfFE4FEre4OlSvsJo/s320/P1050845.JPG" /></a><br />

Apologies for the poor picture quality. That's been the bane of my life lately. Downlights are awesome mood lighting but really crappy for photo taking. <span style="font-size: small;">(I'm still procrastinating about making that lightbox. But that's another story for another day). </span><br />
<br />
<br />
Oh and this came in the mail for me today!!! The inaugural edition of the <a href="http://www.madeit.com.au/detail.asp?id=21584">'Made it' recipe zine</a>. I won it in a giveaway by <a href="http://mixtapezineblog.blogspot.com/">Mixtape</a>...I NEVER win anything. Never Ever. I'm deliriously excited...maybe a tad more than what would be considered normal. But I'm going to bask in it for a while!<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEglI6FoEmKoQ90hOI6M0vgG-vt0THHmqiLRJ_5GtFQiavXFg_lzXBoBXmoBWkNa_HvcuICzonsPVhEUTtCwEFzahRyPhTGnHAjOpLCmyZTqKkxHkLFA4LRCZSKaPt8k1a3p-LnScn4__pI/s1600-h/P1050846.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEglI6FoEmKoQ90hOI6M0vgG-vt0THHmqiLRJ_5GtFQiavXFg_lzXBoBXmoBWkNa_HvcuICzonsPVhEUTtCwEFzahRyPhTGnHAjOpLCmyZTqKkxHkLFA4LRCZSKaPt8k1a3p-LnScn4__pI/s320/P1050846.JPG" /></a><br />
</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;"><br />
</div>There are so many awesome recipes in here from salads, soups and starters to mains and desserts (my favourite). This came just in time for our housewarming this weekend...I think I'm going to try the raspberry lemon meringue pie, Philly cream cheese log and the lemon butter potatoes. Yummy!!<br />
<br />
<i>It sure feels good to blog again. </i>Unknownnoreply@blogger.com1tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3752134312475612807.post-84794796712151811552009-09-15T23:24:00.000+10:002009-09-15T23:24:25.130+10:00Fabric Galore!I'm starting my new job tomorrow after a hiatus of 3 months. I'm already missing full crafting days with the sun streaming in and Mr Mu by my side and afternoon TV. But I at least I'll have something to fund my craft projects with!<br />
<br />
So I decided that while I have the time I should re-stock on my supplies and I went to <a href="http://www.amitie.com.au/">Amitie </a>in Bentleigh to get more fabric yesterday. OK, I should have known that just 'going to get fabric' without a clear and proper plan on what projects I have in mind was probably a tad foolish. And boy did I know that as soon as I stepped into the store. There was sooooo much awesome fabric I was just like a deer in headlights! I wanted to buy half the shop...cloth for one project, coordinating fabric, more for another project...now hang on...which project was I doing with with again? Pink or green?? Does this match with this? And what matches with that?? Which project? You get the point. <br />
<br />
So it was not surprising that I was stuck there for almost an hour and a half!!! But anyway I did manage to make up my mind in the end. <br />
<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgTX7e7hDXxWoaQjQkNm2b-iRtMzU5TEYmt4Moz3UFS69scaLX2XBvidQAYxGIRqrhFXyxXz5juMf1tzinsOjLxYlxXxAWf2MuDD04dSmxOzsE2kModZEU7WEpxd6pbeASlUsxOfdyoj40/s1600-h/IMG_4544.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgTX7e7hDXxWoaQjQkNm2b-iRtMzU5TEYmt4Moz3UFS69scaLX2XBvidQAYxGIRqrhFXyxXz5juMf1tzinsOjLxYlxXxAWf2MuDD04dSmxOzsE2kModZEU7WEpxd6pbeASlUsxOfdyoj40/s320/IMG_4544.JPG" /></a></div><div style="text-align: center;"> Day 1</div><br />
<br />
And then, today I decided that I should go and get some of that fantastic oilcloth they had in the window that I was um-ing and ah-ing about, so I made ANOTHER trip today and bought a bit more <span style="color: #666666; font-size: x-small;">but only a bit.</span> I absolutely love the cherry blossom one. I can't walk past anything with cherry blossoms on them. <br />
<br />

Think I might make a pencil case <span style="color: #666666; font-size: x-small;">another project that has become a victim of my procrastination</span> or another bag with the other black oilcloth that I bought that's not in the picture. I love the romantic design on the fabric.</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><br />

Especially with the Made in Thronbury market that's just happened this past weekend, and seeing all these really awesome pictures of the fantastic craft that people make. These are just some of the talented and creative people whose blogs I follow, <a href="http://alltoileandnoreward.blogspot.com/">Flickettysplits</a>, <a href="http://cravingsfrocks.blogspot.com/">Mrs Beckinsale</a> (her tram cushions are cute as a button!), <a href="http://curlypops.blogspot.com/">Curlypops</a><a href="http://vintagericrac.blogspot.com/"></a> who were also at the Made in Thornbury market. <br />
<br />
So while looking at these amazing handcrafts always inspires me, I'm a bit nervous!! Am I ready to take the plunge??Unknownnoreply@blogger.com2tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3752134312475612807.post-12594362064671777102009-09-07T23:41:00.000+10:002009-09-07T23:41:06.860+10:00Blogging BafflesI'm a bit confused and frustrated by this blogging business at the moment...Not sure why Google doesn't seem to pick up my blog??!! Even after I've made sure all the settings are right. Arggh!!! And maybe I'm being a bit pedantic (or OCD) but I have this whole idea in my head about how I'd like my blog to look and Google is NOT LETTING ME FULLY CUSTOMISE IT!!!<br />
<br />
Oh well....either I'm going to have to let some of my obsessive compulsions go...or D's going to get roped in to do some extra computery work. Incidentally, that'll go onto the list of stuff that he's kindly offered to help me with, like transferring patterns onto cardboard (which I absolutely hate doing). Think I might be running out of favours soon...better think of a nice way to say thank you!!Unknownnoreply@blogger.com2tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3752134312475612807.post-402458211831851952009-09-04T11:29:00.017+10:002009-09-04T12:26:30.404+10:00Other Stuff that I've madeHere's more stuff that I've made recently...I told you I've been sewing diligently!<br /><br /><div style="text-align: center;"><a onblur="try {parent.deselectBloggerImageGracefully();} catch(e) {}" href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEil6JiNUQ4UTMOusY7Rl7AxEVsoYBn9kwtfz0naEhRE-mbz6R6wW2LsO7eR8OLnXBS1y2179c5olc4AIy_HX31WmlCKxkJvcvDt9EOFeSiCQhs_H6rqpdoS-_xjxHpLVKfinESq2qxABag/s1600-h/P1050778.JPG"><img style="margin: 0px auto 10px; display: block; text-align: center; cursor: pointer; width: 220px; height: 165px;" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEil6JiNUQ4UTMOusY7Rl7AxEVsoYBn9kwtfz0naEhRE-mbz6R6wW2LsO7eR8OLnXBS1y2179c5olc4AIy_HX31WmlCKxkJvcvDt9EOFeSiCQhs_H6rqpdoS-_xjxHpLVKfinESq2qxABag/s320/P1050778.JPG" alt="" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5377418787183690498" border="0" /></a>Wristlet Clutch<br /><a onblur="try {parent.deselectBloggerImageGracefully();} catch(e) {}" href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEga7Hwpr0IQH6fZBVUPu63xtxR8HC_Fz3QnGMQepoDwdwgY_nIv1K6cGrAleoiPp1q_c2FqimB0NcNxAZ02auQOrK3NbJabfUH4UkwWXnpnxAFjiX3QBbNAPAc3dn2-SooMHsp8N0MgGFY/s1600-h/P1050780.JPG"><img style="margin: 0px auto 10px; display: block; text-align: center; cursor: pointer; width: 223px; height: 168px;" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEga7Hwpr0IQH6fZBVUPu63xtxR8HC_Fz3QnGMQepoDwdwgY_nIv1K6cGrAleoiPp1q_c2FqimB0NcNxAZ02auQOrK3NbJabfUH4UkwWXnpnxAFjiX3QBbNAPAc3dn2-SooMHsp8N0MgGFY/s320/P1050780.JPG" alt="" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5377419154075266882" border="0" /></a>Pyramid Purse pattern courtesy of <a href="http://www.nicolemdesign.com.au/">Nicole Mallalieu</a><br /><br /><div style="text-align: left;"><div style="text-align: center;"><a onblur="try {parent.deselectBloggerImageGracefully();} catch(e) {}" href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiFcZD7ENOxQ-sGUjUxUzJvhn9cVB5AmdpS0m1s4Lgn-IVBMA0YEL7SUUWtn6-Ab0yNRgRPt8tHe0rmLEWVsosFg9n1ibYgYQAFVIybmYmwB0sQxRM26ASwRjxNyrVVCgo5p14fr7y7284/s1600-h/P1050822.JPG"><img style="margin: 0px auto 10px; display: block; text-align: center; cursor: pointer; width: 223px; height: 167px;" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiFcZD7ENOxQ-sGUjUxUzJvhn9cVB5AmdpS0m1s4Lgn-IVBMA0YEL7SUUWtn6-Ab0yNRgRPt8tHe0rmLEWVsosFg9n1ibYgYQAFVIybmYmwB0sQxRM26ASwRjxNyrVVCgo5p14fr7y7284/s320/P1050822.JPG" alt="" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5377422317069740194" border="0" /></a><a onblur="try {parent.deselectBloggerImageGracefully();} catch(e) {}" href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiHzieLjoJZb_2aMmhg2oMm5EnryiYAj2ncmQkMEfwixwBdE1K_qSgEUSF4CaFaZNTy4Z_26dqlhvLf_xCIH0KbAUkO8KaGf7zqBpjSY1ztX9k3QQ54M68IxUJ_VVnmx64w_uRGSzRb5u4/s1600-h/P1050824.JPG"><img style="margin: 0px auto 10px; display: block; text-align: center; cursor: pointer; width: 220px; height: 167px;" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiHzieLjoJZb_2aMmhg2oMm5EnryiYAj2ncmQkMEfwixwBdE1K_qSgEUSF4CaFaZNTy4Z_26dqlhvLf_xCIH0KbAUkO8KaGf7zqBpjSY1ztX9k3QQ54M68IxUJ_VVnmx64w_uRGSzRb5u4/s320/P1050824.JPG" alt="" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5377422690946040578" border="0" /></a>Baguette by <a href="http://www.nicolemdesign.com.au">Nicole Mallalieu</a><br /><br /><div style="text-align: left;">This was a pretty challenging endeavour! It was classed as an 'Advanced' pattern and I can see why. I was initially slightly nervous about starting this but I stuck to it and I'm REALLY proud of myself for finishing it! <span style="font-size:85%;">*pat on back...and another*</span> OK, if you look really really closely, there are some bits that are a bit wonky but I love it anyway... It's been my little handbag that follows me to the shops. I'm just going to have to keep practising and I'm sure the next ones will be better.<br /><br />Ok, the next 2 bags I'm IMMENSELY proud of. I made them from patterns that I drafted all by myself! The first one is the kind of bag that I carry all the time. It's got a pink denim base (so cute) and is interfaced with medium/heavy interfacing and light fusible wadding. I used Vilene S520 for the base for a bit of structure. And it's got magnetic snaps and adjustable straps. So it can be carried as a tote/satchel or as an over the shoulder sling bag (very handy if your hands are full).<br /><br /><br /></div></div><div style="text-align: center;"><a onblur="try {parent.deselectBloggerImageGracefully();} catch(e) {}" href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhhVplnqbjTxhZbFBolIqXpkqlpHuo7OBa1rC8xPu2_qxwzt-zXyGv2L7qAIcjudnMhaaPVaoECuW2vHzilX7Jw8zxvKD3K-7Ywi0HL057_L2OzV9C7BaCP2mcwTiAny9buSlluPMlFr-o/s1600-h/P1050800.JPG"><img style="margin: 0px auto 10px; Anyway, I've got Mr Singer all figured out now and he's quickly becoming a very good friend!<br /><br /><br /><br /><a onblur="try {parent.deselectBloggerImageGracefully();} catch(e) {}" href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiK7ZMgqE7BBudnd41dJW73lDzSGAtR47zu-hM62z1731rL6vyQmxZqQJi8EPBMCQvcTKWPhPhpQ3N0JR7TW3O8KTPrLPZKdD3J6vXjPg5R6ml1HBgyT-WOihUEnbb2_5aMC14fOkfEUIo/s1600-h/P1050797.JPG"><img style="margin: 0pt 10px 10px 0pt; float: left; cursor: pointer; width: 320px; height: 240px;" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiK7ZMgqE7BBudnd41dJW73lDzSGAtR47zu-hM62z1731rL6vyQmxZqQJi8EPBMCQvcTKWPhPhpQ3N0JR7TW3O8KTPrLPZKdD3J6vXjPg5R6ml1HBgyT-WOihUEnbb2_5aMC14fOkfEUIo/s320/P1050797.JPG" alt="" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5377226556254197906" border="0" /></a>Speaking of friends....here's my bestest friend and sewing companion. Here he is at his spot next to the sewing machine keeping me company while sun-baking/napping. I think he's awesome.<br /><br /><a onblur="try {parent.deselectBloggerImageGracefully();} catch(e) {}" href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEizoRqpm_KJQopbNC2uLeGA_nECoNKJpiyBYmZC1dER5m5dMYwWdPp_LzpPIWpACFH3SRHV1mtygN25SRvi2uOErNdRhwP6LSM80e0yKdhybAjuiizr-ZaOe__eBipv_f7BamxpmkmLEi8/s1600-h/P1050787.JPG"><img style="margin: 0pt 10px 10px 0pt; float: left; cursor: pointer; width: 320px; height: 240px;" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEizoRqpm_KJQopbNC2uLeGA_nECoNKJpiyBYmZC1dER5m5dMYwWdPp_LzpPIWpACFH3SRHV1mtygN25SRvi2uOErNdRhwP6LSM80e0yKdhybAjuiizr-ZaOe__eBipv_f7BamxpmkmLEi8/s320/P1050787.JPG" alt="" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5377227445137178898" border="0" /></a>Unknownnoreply@blogger.com2tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3752134312475612807.post-49384555313590018412009-09-03T21:38:00.000+10:002009-09-03T22:34:57.226+10:00My creative juices are flowingI've been honing my sewing skills diligently lately and these are some of the stuff I've made. I have to say...the sense of satisfaction of holding the finished product is AWESOME!<br /><br /><div style="text-align: center;"><a onblur="try {parent.deselectBloggerImageGracefully();} catch(e) {}" href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiRyQ1WGNTdWsWCbcQ8s3E146xVd1-bt7lyP87fmRj5s-uVfLe9yaJyK-b9QJUHNZHgjRx9UztcotBUDRQj5ZOJWnK8c82o9tgTZnpWpP0Sp8VYfkFhy9_xD7jzS_CMTJ93D84BcH0SzM8/s1600-h/P1050774.JPG"><img style="cursor: pointer; width: 182px; height: 136px;" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiRyQ1WGNTdWsWCbcQ8s3E146xVd1-bt7lyP87fmRj5s-uVfLe9yaJyK-b9QJUHNZHgjRx9UztcotBUDRQj5ZOJWnK8c82o9tgTZnpWpP0Sp8VYfkFhy9_xD7jzS_CMTJ93D84BcH0SzM8/s320/P1050774.JPG" alt="" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5377206952370223746" border="0" /></a></div><div style="text-align: center;">Oh-so-cute Puff Purses from <a href="http://www.nicolemdesign.com.au/">Nicole Mallalieu Designs</a><br /><br /><div style="text-align: center;"><a onblur="try {parent.deselectBloggerImageGracefully();} catch(e) {}" href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjJG9YUS6zdCxI4S0B2raytxwPwnNUnll0DOkExXyUdmRgQn6PZYs7_m9wCgomiEodVZe0Z5QINW55y5gdk_uX3oKveZZP5SuUDdcQA6Qidx-hVlc0s5b4IFSNdrme6L0p-4_J8YdFIwKg/s1600-h/P1050765.JPG"><img style="cursor: pointer; width: 239px; height: 179px;" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjJG9YUS6zdCxI4S0B2raytxwPwnNUnll0DOkExXyUdmRgQn6PZYs7_m9wCgomiEodVZe0Z5QINW55y5gdk_uX3oKveZZP5SuUDdcQA6Qidx-hVlc0s5b4IFSNdrme6L0p-4_J8YdFIwKg/s320/P1050765.JPG" alt="" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5377212626292463298" border="0" /></a><a onblur="try {parent.deselectBloggerImageGracefully();} catch(e) {}" href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEj-c34kLyXqD4V2rJ0LKIDNwfNqaBHx3gCsTBv_GitLgchmj8ajFi6XnXkWm4-0hF84uqNPvb-bA5IOSsSs__jzifjFCG1qo_3CPTZHuqvUwguLf71-i45R8eWlpjt1E6PqId0BAAwmjkM/s1600-h/P1050768.JPG"><img style="cursor: pointer; width: 238px; height: 179px;" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEj-c34kLyXqD4V2rJ0LKIDNwfNqaBHx3gCsTBv_GitLgchmj8ajFi6XnXkWm4-0hF84uqNPvb-bA5IOSsSs__jzifjFCG1qo_3CPTZHuqvUwguLf71-i45R8eWlpjt1E6PqId0BAAwmjkM/s320/P1050768.JPG" alt="" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5377212452681333250" border="0" /></a></div>Beach Bag also from <a href="http://www.nicolemdesign.com.au/">Nicole Mallalieu Designs</a><br /><br /></div>This bag was made as a nappy/carry-everthing baby bag for my cousin who is having her first baby. Very very exciting! It's got lots of pockets (6 on the outside and more on the inside) for carrying all the things that babies need....which from my lack of experience I'm guessing would include nappies, wipes, formula, towels and a change of clothes? I reckon the Circus Train fabric from Koka is too cute! Maybe I'll use the rest of it to make a matching bib or <a href="http://www.flickr.com/photos/lululollylegs/3259773718/">Henrietta the Hippo</a> from <a href="http://audreyandmaude.blogspot.com/">Audrey and Maude.</a> They have really cute patterns for stuffed animals. Stay tuned to see if I'm actually game enough to try. Still not very confident about sewing 3-dimensional things!<br /><br />I reckon patterns are like cooking recipes...there are some out there which just don't cut it. No matter how closely you follow the instructions, the final piece just doesn't turn out like the accompanying picture. Nicole Mallalieu's patterns DO NOT fall into this category though. Her patterns are AWESOME. They are so clear and come with so many handy tips...perfect for a sewing newbie like me! Can't wait to try her other patterns! (although I think I should try the different variations for the ones I already have).<br /><br /><div style="text-align: left;"><br /></div>Unknownnoreply@blogger.com3tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3752134312475612807.post-20879464377061229352009-08-26T00:58:00.001+10:002009-08-26T01:04:40.606+10:00Inaugural Post!Ok...this is all a bit exciting! My first post on my very own blog...so many questions....Will I actually have anything to say? Or will I hit a verbal stumbling block fairly quickly? One thing though, I must not procrastinate with posts...a bit of an effort for a procrastinator like myself.<br />...must not procrastinate....must not procrastinate.....must not proscrastinate...Unknownnoreply@blogger.com1
